This spectacular 15 Blue Jay Fetish Necklace, hand-carved by New Mexico artist Matt Mitchell, is an unusually substantial piece featuring fifteen individually carved blue jays in a striking azurite-malachite stone blend. The stone combines deep blue azurite with naturally occurring green malachite, creating beautiful variations of blue, turquoise, green and coppery matrix throughout the birds.
 
And there is an especially good reason to treasure this particular necklace: we can no longer source this beautiful azurite-malachite material for Matt Mitchell's bird carvings. That makes this necklace a rare find from our collection and one we are unlikely to be able to offer again—or perhaps not for a very long time.
 
The necklace is wonderfully dramatic when worn. Fifteen hand-carved birds travel down both sides of the necklace, leading to a larger bird in flight at the center. The birds have wonderful individual variations in their stone patterning, so the necklace has the look and feel of a true artisan-made collector's piece rather than a mass-produced jewelry design.
The rich blue lapis heishi beads complement the birds beautifully, while sterling silver cones and clasp finish the necklace.
