Audubon Birder's Journal is a beautiful and practical companion for anyone who enjoys watching, identifying, and keeping track of birds.
Designed for both beginning and experienced birders, this compact journal provides plenty of room to record your sightings while surrounding you with the timeless bird artwork of John James Audubon.
More than 100 pages are devoted to field observations, with dedicated spaces for the date and time, location, weather, species and description, observations, notes, and sketches. It's a wonderful way to capture not only what bird you saw, but where you found it and what you noticed about its behavior.
Throughout the journal are more than 30 full-color reproductions of Audubon's bird paintings, along with quotations from Audubon. The artwork comes from his monumental The Birds of America, making this a particularly beautiful journal for anyone who appreciates both birding and historic bird art.
There's plenty more for birders to discover, too: the journal includes instructions on what and how to observe, bird-feeding basics, an anatomy of a bird, a list of U.S. state and Canadian provincial and territorial birds, a birding code of ethics, and a Life List checklist for keeping track of species you've seen.
Compact enough to take along on a walk, birding outing, or trip, this is the kind of journal you'll find yourself reaching for again and again.

About John James Audubon
John James Audubon (1785–1851) was an artist and naturalist whose ambitious project to document North American birds resulted in The Birds of America, one of the most celebrated works in the history of bird illustration. His paintings brought individual birds to life with remarkable detail and helped establish a lasting visual record of North American bird species.
